Monday Mantra

This week's Monday Mantra is...

Complain Less

What do many of us, myself included, do after a long day at work?  We complain.  We call it venting, but it's really complaining.  We tell our loved ones everything that went wrong, every mean thing that was said, every customer or co worker who was less than agreeable (and something about working in a restaurant seems to greatly increase this hobby).

And it may seem like bonding, or amusing (I get some great laughs with these vent sessions) but all it actually is is complaining.  And nothing good comes from it.  All it does is keep us in the most negative, frustrating parts of our day when we could instead use that energy to discuss the positive, and move on from the rest.

Now I am in no way suggesting that if there is actually a legitimate problem at work or in another aspect of your life that you ignore the need to get help and discuss it with someone you trust.  This has to do with the petty.  The little problems that in the grand scheme of things don't mean much, yet we let them remain on our mind much longer than they deserve. These are the things I want to keep from being vocalized.  The negative, doesn't really need to be mentioned, may be funny but doesn't add any real value to the conversation, comments and complaints are what I will try to keep from passing my lips this week.

I have my doubts.  Like I really don't know if this Monday Mantra will even last until Monday night but I'm going to give it a try.  Complain less (or not at all) for one week, one day, one hour, and see how it changes your life. And after all, we have a lot to be grateful for,

What's your Monday Mantra this week?  Any tips to keep the complaints to myself? Share in the comments below!

Love,

Riley
