Friday Finds: LUSH Edition

I used to hate my skin and hair. My skin was constantly a mess and I was a consumerists society's dream as I was consistently buying the newest fad to try and get my sensitive skin under control (most of which backfired). And my hair was a whole other story. In high school people were freshening up their looks monthly with a new hair colour which left me completely jealous as my mother wouldn't allow hair dye within ten feet of my head and my hairdresser told me I couldn't pay her to dye my hair, promising me I would love the colour one day (she was obviously right).

So I was left with skin that alternated between dry and breaking out and lackluster hair that I hid under hats and tied back.  Fast forward about five years and I've finally found some products that take care of my skin and hair the way they deserve.

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics has built their whole company on ideas and ethics that anyone can jump on board with, but most importantly for me in my search for products that will combat my problems instead of create new ones, is there promise to use fresh ingredients.  Things like coconut oil and other essential oils, and fruits and vegetables create the safe haven for my wildly sensitive skin.

In fact, when I walked into Lush for the first time and told the salesperson I had very sensitive skin their face lit up with a new challenge and a new chance to please and boy did they nail it. With the advice from Lush employees and browsing through their online catalog, I am now armed with the perfect products to make me love my hair and skin again.

My favourites?  I Love Juicy shampoo, made with kiwi, pineapple and mango which smells delicious and does the trick for my annoyingly oily hair.  Ultrabland made with beeswax is the best cleanser/make up remover I've ever come across.  And new to my obsession collection- Celestial Moisturizer and Eau Roma Water both of which have eased the way on my sensitive skin road.

So if you haven't had the pleasure of becoming personally obsessed with Lush and it's wide range of products, and if you're in the market for something to change up your beauty routine, maybe a trip to Lush is in your (very near) future.
